    Hi Everyone
I live in Adelaide with my Husband who is a Maintenance Fitter. Unfortunately he lost his job just before Easter because of the credit crunch and has applied for all of the jobs available here but he's having no luck. We're not tied into staying in Adelaide and are willing to move anywhere so can anyone please let me know what the job situation is like for his trade in your area.
    Thank You xx

    Hi -

I hope someone posts a few answers as im on my way over there and i'm a maint fitter !!!

I found a few web sites for jobs and it looks like most of the work is contract type.

I think one site was called "skilled engineering" or something similar.

Good luck with your search and maybe see you in a bit !!

    Hit and Miss !
There are still jobs about but not nearly as many as this time last year. Highly populated areas like the Gold Coast seem to be struggling more than some of the less popular areas.
The hardest challenge is securing a job before you arrive, i personally from what i have seen feel it is almost impossible.
If you are in Adelaide would it be worth your while getting a cheap flight up here and approaching company's in person, this seems the best way to get a response. Closely followed by ringing the company direct. Try to avoid e-mails as it is unlikely you will get a response.
    Good Luck
