It sounds likea nice place for families etc.. but does nyone knowwhat the place is like.

We'll be over in about 5 weeks and its one of our "top 8" to visit and live. No.1 at present is North lakes...

any info would be great - its me (late 30's), Katie(31) ad 2 young kids (8 + 4). Is this a family place or should we avoid it.?

CAL - Your prophetic advice would be much apreciated as well as anyone else !!

    Hi there,
We live in Warner - the next suburb along, but our kids (11 and 10) go to Albany Hills primary (which seems to be a great school). Albany Creek is very family friendly and a nicely established suburb. Places like Warner and Cashmere and Eatons Hill are also good but without the library, swimming pool and general shops and facilities that A.C has. They do have a lot more of the brand new estates and housing though and rentals in Warner particularly are a wee bit cheaper. I like A.C but i guess it all depends on what you are looking for. To say it's so close to the city, it still has a fairly low key feel to it and like i said - well established with lots of trees and greenery around the residential housing areas. I haven't had a really good look at the housing - like searching for a rental, but what we have seen seems to be a mixture of slightly older style of property and some really lovely modern ones. A good selection for all ends of the market. It has very good access to the city, road wise and train station near by. But i also like how close and accessable the rural areas and Sunshine and Gold Coasts are. You could definitely do a whole lot worse.
Hope that helps, but you can only get a feel for it by being here - i guess you're probably counting down the days now.
Good luck with your hunt, and if you would like any more specific info then pm me.

Saffy has given some good info there and i agree with what she says. We relocated a family to Albany Creek last year and for a suburb close to the city i was pleasantly surprised. The access to the city is great for private or public transport, people seemed friendly and the houses were majority brick built and lovely.I cant remember the exact estate this family went to without going back through my paperwork but the views from their rental which was slightly elevated were fantastic and you could see for miles!!!!
The schools dont seem to do too bad, plenty of shops and ammenties within a stones throw and you never really hear any negatives about the area at all.

Definately worth putting on your ''to check out'' list! lol
    Good Luck with your search

If you want to be nearish the city have a look at Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills and Samford /samford village.
All are lovely areas with Samford being one of my personal favorite places that i have been too in Oz, just a shame the property prices reflect the beauty of the place,lol..
