  1. Hi

I arrive in Brissie on 18/6 and am looking for a room to rent (preferably furnished) for 4-6 weeks while I find a house. If anyone has anything available around that time it would be great to hear from you.

    I am a professional person, non-smoker, clean & tidy.

I'm looking to be close to the CBD and within walking distance of a train line.

    Thanks

    Hi welcome to LIQ,

Have you tried looking at "Gumtree" they often have adverts for rooms and house shares, we do have a couple of members who do house lets, but I think that would be a bit much for one person (I presume you are on your own.

Hope Gumtree helps with your search, another alternative could be to look for holiday accommodation, some of those will do discounts for relatively longer stays.

  3. Hi srp

I'll take a look at gumtree and see what I can find

    Thanks

Just a note that some bus lines in Brisbane can be better than the train lines.

When we first moved here, we found a couple of places to stay through http://www.airbnb.com and it was great. This is a site for people who let rooms or whole apartments out to tourists or newly-arrived residents; it's not necessarily B&B - ours were self-catering. There are heaps of properties in all areas of Brisbane, with differing standards and costs, and we found it was a great way to get to know new people and decide which area we'd like to live in on a permanent basis. Hope that helps!

  7. Thanks everyone for your replies....managed to get something lined up off of one of the sites you recommended. 3 weeks left before I jump on the plane....aaarrrrggghh!!

    Hi,
You could also try www.pm4u.com.au these are properties located closer to the CBD, and as someone said earlier www.airbnb.com.au offer affordable rooms in houses etc.

    Good luck
