Hi everyone, just in the process of starting, me and hubby who is a joiner, two kids, age 6 and 10. I am scared to death but excited as well. I love the sound of brisbane, but love the beach also, are we going to be too far away from a good beach, ideally we would like to finnish work and head down to the beach for an hour or two, please help as i am also considering perth, would like your input on which you think would be best, thanks in advance,
From Central Brisbane to Gold Coast is about 1 hour by car. There is also the man-made South Park beach in the centre of Brisbane. Some much smaller beach areas dotted around the Redlands, but not used much as they do not compare to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. Redcliffe also has a decent beach area.
Hiya ,welcome to brits in brissy ,have you looked at some of the suburbs bordering the Gold Coast ,Robina,Coomera etc are all big family areas not too far from a beach. There would also be plenty of work for the hubby ,have a look at www.realestate.com for a guide to prices ,hope this helps a bit Cal x
Im a joiner who along with my wife and 13 year old James are moving to oz later this year. I have never been to Brisbane but we are 90% sure of going there as we have been to Perth many times and the only joinery on houses there is roofs and internal doors .all internal walls are breeze with bricklayer fitted steel door casings. Also Perth has come to a standstill for new houses as weve heard that Brisbane is still going strong. If you decide on Perth Scarbrough beach has large strong waves not suitable for kids. Hillaries is a small beach with sea like a mill pond and a small water park, shops and cafes etc next to it. Not sure about if they have stingers in Brisbane as in Sydney and Cairns but i assume they do.
