    Hi,

    I am currently training to be a registered migration agent, and I will be working in the UK. The part of the course I am doing now is about business structure, fees and practice management.
    I am after some feedback from those of you who have used a migration agent, to help me out. If anyone could/would share their experiences that would be really helpful.

    The sort of info I am after is ;
    Did you use an agent?
    Where were they based- Aus or UK?
    Did you use their full service, ie the agent did your application, or did you just get advice?
    What their fees were for which service?
    Were there payment options available ie. staged payments?
    Were you satisfied with the service?

    Hi Karen
    Firstly i want to wish you lots of luck , its going to be a tough job to crack in the present climate.
    We used an agent when applied, they were uk based and helped us through the application step by step, they provided templates for stat dec's and were always available to answer any questions or queries we had regarding the application.
    It was a few years ago but i know payment was in 2 parts, one after TRA was submitted the final payment when the actual application was submitted.I cant remember the actual fee ,it was too long ago but in our eyes it was money well spent.
    If i was too turn the clock back i would be happy to use this company again.

    We used an agent and here's my answers:

    Did you use an agent?
    Yes

    UK

    Full

    £1750 for full.

    Were there payment options available ie. staged payments?
    5 stages

    Were you satisfied with the service?
    Yes.
    Good points- Agent was super efficient, very easily contactable (answered emails within a hour / always answered phone etc). Made it a very smooth process.
    Bad points- Seemed to be a lot of money for what they actually did- We certainly had loads of work to do as well particularly for skills assessment.

    I wouldn't have fancied tackling the process myself without knowing anything about it, however, that said, I would probably feel comfortable doing it myself now I know how it works! The agent didn't do anything that I couldn't have done myself. It was nice to have the experience on hand in case we ran into problems - although as it happens our visa application was quite straight forward.
