    Hi...

We are looking at renting on or near Jessica Drive when we get to Brisbane, which may be August time as we have just found out we will be fast tracked due to the new Critical Skills List, which means we need to start thinking about schools for our boys.. Upper Coomera State College will be our catchment school and wondered if anyone has any info about it...Is it a good school, good results, rough area ect... Actually if anyone has any comments on Jessica Drive gated complex, that would be apriciated too !!

    Thanks in anticipation..

Hi i have no personal experienceof Jessica Drive or the school. Upper Coomera is a lovely area though so i really dont think you can go worng, i found it best with schools to go for a look when you arive, if you get a feel that its ok pop in and ask for an appointment, good luck with everything

thanks for that advice Cal....Yep defo think we will look aroung a few schools, and as I am a qualified Teaching Assistant, will hopefully know what basic indicators I will be looking. You do get a feel for a school when you visit, but as we are not doing a reccie we need to make some decisions about areas we would like now, hence thinking about schools too...
The whole visa thing has been made faster now so everything seems and feels a little more urgent, whether thats a good thing I am not sure : - ]

    Thanks again !!!

  4. hi,
my name is daniel bird and i finished school at upper coomer state college last november and while i was their the school was quite good. The school has very good facilities for performing arts type subjects such as music and drama however i have heard that this year many of the old teachers have left and the school has started to get quite a bad reputation over the last few months regarding lots of fighting and weapon threats. These are only things i have heard but it may be a good idea to consider either saint stephens or coomera anglican college as these schools have a much better reputation however i believe that they are private schools.

I have to agree with Daniel in that this school has for some reason been in the news so much this last 2 or 3 months. Mainly kids fighting so the school is put into lockdown, the worrying one was a lad taking a knife into school!!!
This is only what i have seen in the papers and heard on the news ,so the truth behind the media reports is anyones guess, although you dont often here about trouble at schools on the news.

Personally i would take a look for myself and try very hard to speak with some parents to see if they have issues, after all they are ones who know exactly whats going on.

    Hi

    Hi,

I just wanted to tell you about schools round and about Coomera and Upper Coomera.
Upper Coomera State College has quite good reports and results on test, exams etc.
However it is a very rought school and the children are not so friendly and there are quite a lot of fights that take place there. So my recommendations are to try to get your boys into the private schools, the school my children go to is Saint Stephens College and it is the best school in the area, and another brilliant school is also Assisi.

    Thanks

    Lizzie
