Hello, I am still int he process of applying for our visa's. It's all looking good so far. As part of the preperation for the move, can anyone tell me if a LCD tv purchased in the uk would work in Oz??
As I intend to move quickly (once visa is approved) so rather than have trouble selling our stuff here, i'm thinking of shipping it over? Any thoughts on this would help.

If you buy a digital set top box (similar to freeview boxes in the UK) for it when you get here (can get one for around $40 AUD) then you'll have no problems. Getting a cheap set top box will allow you to access all the free to air channels and take any possible TV tuner incompatibilities out of the equation.

If you didn't get a set top box, then you may still be able to use the TV to view the analogue channels, but due to slight differences in the audio transmission between the UK and Australia, you may have to end up setting your TV to 'Germany' in the settings (they use the same Audio frequency as Australia), you'd be limited to inferior Analogue picture quality & wouldn't get all the free to air channels. Besides, Queensland is due to start switching from Analogue to Digital starting this year and finishing in 2013.

So basically, worth fetching, just may need to add a cheap set top box to make the most of it.
