    Hi there,

we will arrive in the new year and we are wondering whether to buy a new LCD or LED TV before we come. Would a uk set work (analogue and digital tuners) Are ther any issues with power supplies?

    many thanks :)

ps, I have heard that some things are expensive, is there anything else you recommend that we buy before we come?

Just a quickie. Can't answer your question directly but my in-laws have just returned to the Uk and their Australian LCD/plasma TV doesnt work there. If you live anywhere near Dorset you might be able to pick yourself up a bargain!

    Hi,

Officially, you are supposed to own anything you bring to Australia for 12 months before you arrive, So if you buy new and customs realise you could pay import duty. Never known it happen but it is a possibility.

Personally I would purchase a TV when you get here, with the strong $ white goods and electrical goods are dropping in price; also if you buy in the UK and it breaks down you will have problems getting the Guarantee honoured in Australia. Buying in Australia gives you the security of a guarantee and as I said prices are dropping here.

Of course if you do live near dorset then MindariePoms reply could be the perfect answer.

  4. I agree with the above.
And you'll always find a shop offering great specials. No need to wait for the Christmas or summer sales, there's ALWAYS something juicy going on. They just want you to buy!
