Anyone ever been to Townsville and have any recommendations what's worth visiting? Our eldest son's gone there for the week with the Air Force Cadets, so we thought we might go down for a couple of days ourselves. I know the aquarium is there (wanted to visit it last year when we were driving Darwin -> Brisbane, but couldn't park the Britz campavan anywhere near it), but don't know anything else about Townsville.

    Hey,

My father lives in Townsville and i have been to visit twice. ( I currently live in the UK until his visa is granted! ) Anyway, there was always alot of fun things to do. As you've mentions there is Reef Hq, which is amazing and definetly worth the visit. You can learn alot. I remember the lady there doing a speech, and i remember the quote, " if you see a cone, leave it alone" haha.:cute: Magnetic Island is only a short ferry ride, where you can hire little cars to tour round the Island. I think I'd be correct to say its the "Koala Capital". Theres lots of amazing beaches to visit and walks to go on.

The Strand is a really nice place to visit for Lunch and a stroll along the beaches. Not to mention that theres is a Rock Pool one end which is beautiful to cool off in.

    Hope this helps!

    All the best,

    Sam.
