Next week we are flying up to Townsville to find a place to live and we were wondering if there were any suburbs that would be best "avoiding" so to speak.

We are in our mid 40's with no kids so schools aren't an issue :)

We drove up last week for a couple days from the Gold Coast, what a long way lol, to check out Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville for work opportunities as my back ground is in heavy industry doesnt leave alot of experience for GC work.

After talking to few recruitment firms, and visiting, we decided to make the move to Townsville, so on Tuesday we fly up for a few days to sort out somewhere to live, then the move itself during the last week of the month.

Hiya Soul, all good so to speak, getting all settled into an apartment up on the side of the hill, nice breeze everyday :)

Been here 2 weeks now and the weather has been amazing, from look of it we moved from the GC at right time, sounds like its been really wet and cold since we left :)

Busy hitting up the job market now, but no regrets

Good stuff, you'll enjoy the walking trails at your door step up through castle hill.

Don't forget to check out Queens park, I hear there is a big hedge maze there.

Good luck and you shouldn't have any problems finding work. Townsville has been VERY progressive as of late.

Really sorry only just seen this. Ok suburbs are below:

    North Ward
    West End
    Bushland Beach
    Hyde Park
    Hermit Park
    Mount Louisa

North Ward, West End & Pallarenda are rather pricey though but great because they are close to the beach/The Strand/waterpark etc.

The most important thing is to check the flood maps as a lot of Townsville is subject to flooding
