My Mum and Dad live in Buderim which is about 9k`s from Mooloolabah and the coast. They love it there. It all depends what you are looking for in an area. Make a list of those things that you want from an area and the things that you need. Thats a start!!

    Hi there,

We moved up to Caloundra a few weeks ago after living in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. My kids are 12 and 11 and they start their new schools at the end of Jan. I can't, therefore give you first hand knowledge just yet, but can tell you that when we were looking we found there are many excellent schools all along the Sunshine Coast and you can really be almost spoilt for choice. None are perfect, but most seem to have some area they excel in.
As to day to day life - so far we've been on the school holidays but everything seems much simpler here, much more accessable (shopping, cinema, pools, beach etc) and is way more laid back.
We've lived by the beach in NZ for 6 years and although there is much more going on here (just off to the local events centre with the kids to see a Harry Potter spoof, for instance), it's the laid back approach which is very similar, and much more apealing than the suburbs. That of course is our opinion and what we are looking for we've found here.
Good luck with your job and 'place' hunt. If you've got any questions then feel free to pm me.
    Saff
