Hi can anyone tell me any nice areas within 40mins of Northgate or how far is Gold Coast from there ??

Northgate is right next to the Gateway Motorway so you can get to lots of places in 40 mins or under,,depending on traffic and time of day,on a good day i can do the airport to here in 30 mins . They are due to open some new section of the motorway shortly that should hopefully relieve congestion at rush hour and in the event of an accident, currently its a car park in any of these situations.
I would say youd be looking at an hour to the Northern end of the Gold Coast.

Im south of Brisbane and inland from the Gold Coast,gives us the best of both worlds,lol. Gary works mainly on the coast and i need decent access to the airport so it suits us well here as its not to far for either of us.

If you want beach side living have a look at Redcliffe as its a pretty straight run from Northgate,and probably the nearest place with ok beaches,, again just take into consideration traffic jams!!! With a 40 min time frame you have loadsssss of suburbs to choose from, its just finding the one that you both feel ''is right'' for you.
If you want sandy beaches or surf beaches then you'd have to look at the top end of the Gold Coast as this wouldn't be too bad a commute and would also give you a choice of stunning beaches to play on.

Choosing an area to settle is by far the hardest choice you will have to make and its almost impossible to do until you are here and can see places in person/real life. There are too many nice places! lol

We've been googling and streetviewing around Redcliffe, Redland Bay and Victoria Point, so we'll be doing some recce'ing of those places when we arrive.

 

I don't know Redcliffe, but we live by Redland Bay and Victoria Point so if you need any advice about those areas, please give me a shout. We LOVE living here!

Oh, don't worry, we will pick your brains

 

A quick update.....we didn't hear anything back from the garage in Northgate so I decided to email every garage I in QLD !!.
I had been told about a site called www.panelbeater.com.au so thought...sod it email the lot !!! I also went on to www.careerone.com and looked at jobs advertised and then looked them up on panelbeater.com and emailed them.
Well....it worked !!! one company contacted us !!!.
This company employ from the UK and were just finallising the UK sponsor interviews and were going to pass the details on to the contact in UK......Yesterday my OH got a call, they wanted him to attend an interview on wednesday...gutted... were on holiday next week !!!, so he's got a telephone interview on wednesday instead !!!!!!
I will keep you all informed and HOPEFULLY get some advise on Goldcoast areas !!!!

Good on you Lynne - I am really glad that the hard work is paying off. Some people expect a job to land in their laps, and unfortunately it just doesn't work like that. I will keep my fingers crossed for your hubbys interview - keep us posted. Oh, and have a great holiday!

Thanks Rudi, its right what you say, alot of people expect a job to come and find them. I really wanted to move to the Goldcoast area and I literallly emailed every garage in the area as well as other places we liked.
I hope it all works out for us with the interview but if not i'll carry on emailing !!!
