    Hi Donna

We are in the Bayside area. We love it here! I don't often venture into the city if I can help it LOL

  5. Hi Donna,

I know this is no help now, but I will be in your shoes in Sept next year! By then you will have a nice little social network and could possibly help me ! My kids are currently 1 & 2. So keep in touch, you will really love South Bank to hang out and play with your little girl.
Do you know what area you are going to try and move to?

    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

Thanks for your email, I have only had one or two replies and was starting to worry! LOL I'm not really sure where we are going to move to as yet, we are looking at either the city (as my other half has a job in the CBD) or Cleveland. I have met a really nice lady on here who lives there and has recommended it but I am worried about the commute for my O.H - I don't want him to not see the baby before she goes to bed etc. Do you know where you will be moving to? How come your moving next year - shame your not moving the same time as me, then we could explore together! But don't worry - I am going to try and make as many friends as possible when I get there so I can introduce you when you come over.

So where about's do you live now, I'm in Newbury, Berkshire at the moment.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

By the way, if you want to email me directly my email is louisedonna@talk21.com or add me on facebook (Donna Coppe) - the only one on there.

    Hi Donna

Cleveland and the whole Bayside area is a lovely area to live and great for families. Lots of people do the commute into the city.....including my hubby  We are just down the road from Cleveland, in Thornlands. I would take a couple of weeks to take a drive around the areas you are interested in when you first get here and see where is going to suit you better.

    Take care

    Love

    Ruid

    Hi Rudi,

How long does it take your hubby to get to the CBD from where you live if you don't mind my asking?

I think we will probably do what you suggested, stay in a hotel whilst we find the right area and the right house/apartment.

    Hi Donna

I just asked him.....he said that on a good run it takes him half an hour and on a slow run it can take 50 mins.

    Hope that helps

    Love

  10. Hi Donna,

Just looked you up on FB and there are 2 of you there ! Are you the one with your photo and have brown hair? If you look me up I am the only Natalie Heyman on there and my pic is of me and my little boy dressed as the very hungry caterpilla !
The reason we are going in Sept next year is we only made our decision to go about a month ago and really need that time to wrapp our head around the move ! Unless Karl gets a job sooner which I doubt as he has tried in the past from the UK and has had no luck.
We are also going to move more into the inner city to begin with. We will only rent for 6 months and then see what after that. We are aiming to go up the to the sunshine coast as that is where I am from, however work is harder to find.
Karl is like your O.H. he doesn't want to live on the outer Brissy as the time and cost of commuting. Especially like you said when you have a little one. The whole idea of been in Oz is to make a better life for ourselves and commuting that much isn't what we have in mind !
I have lived on the website ourbrisbane.com it is very useful looking up suburbs on what they are like the average rent for the area and how many couple with families are living within that area. I also look at realestate.com for rental. It will give you an idea of prices in areas as we will have a very tight budget until one of us gets work ! I would like to live in the Kelvin Grove, Ashgrove or around the Gap area as they are nice areas and very close to the city. I also think that despite I know people that live further out and will get more for their money in rental and great family areas, I like the inner city and what it can provide for the kids. Hopefully playgroups and like I said you will love South Bank, I plan on living there !!
Has you O.H. got work lined up and what area of work is he in? What visa's are you guys going out on? Sorry so many questions. Karl will be going out on a spouse visa as I am Aussie as to are the kids ! Would love to go sooner but we also need the time to save a little money!
Anyway we are in sunny Brighton. Look me up on facebook. I am still finding this website a little hard to use as it seems to be very slow and just learning to navigate my way around it !

    Speak soon...

    X Nat
