  1. Hi everyone! We're new to this forum and due to emmigrate in April next year - There's myself and my husband and baby daughter Ava who will be 11 months old when we arrive in Brisbane.

We're looking to secure a short term rental property - fully furnished for approx 3-4 weeks for when we first arrive.

Ideally, we'd like to get our bearings and to have a chance to look around the different suberbs and get a feel for where we want to be longer term before we commit to anything..

Does anyone have any recommendations as to appartments / flats that are not too pricey that are availbale to rent short term?

Would be great to hear from you!

    Best wishes,

    Rebekah, Bobby and Ava

    Hiya guys

    What's not too pricey?
short term lets are more expensive then unfurnished lets mainly because all your utility bills are included.
What areas of Brisbane are you looking at ?
there are a few reputable places about from prices starting around $100 pr night(approx 45 gbp), which you will probably find is not much more than a hotel but of course you have tons more room to move in a house.

    Hi Rebekah, Bobby and Ava

Welcome to the forum! It can be a little quiet on here, but those of us that post are VERY helpful .

Which area are you looking to move to? There's a few providers of accommodation who post on here who might be able to help. Are you looking north, south, east, west or very central?!! What sort of budget do you have?

I would definitely recommend booking sooner rather than later - as I am sure Cal would agree - places get booked up very early and as that is around Easter time it will be a busy period.

If you look around the forum and look at people's signatures and click on the links that should take you to some places to give you some idea of what's on offer.

  4. Hi again! Thanks so much for replying!

We're looking at budget wise about $100 per nite... We were thinking about staying somewhere for 3 weeks while we look at longer term rentals. We had hoped to get somewhere around Wynnum, Manly or any decent areas within a 5km radius of the CBD. Do you think this is realistic?? Would welcome any advice!!

Cant wait to get to brisbane!!!

HMMM, I think that's quite a low budget if you want to be as close as that to the city, but you never know!!

For Wynnum and Manly have a look here http://www.takeabreak.com.au/BrisbaneBayside/Brisbane/accomodation.htm and here http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/qld/brisbane/brisbane-bayside but bear in mind that for some reason the Stayz systems includes the Northern Bayside area (like Sandgate and Shorncliffe) as well, so a lot of these properties are not in the area you have mentioned.

If there is nothing on those links that is suitable, have a look at different areas on those websites as well.

There are a few within your price range, but the majority are more expensive. As Cal says, they are more expensive because they include all your utility bills, linen (at some places) etc.

    Good luck finding somewhere.

    Love

    Hi Rebekah

Hope you are well and looking forward to the big move!

Have you managed to get something booked for your initial stay? We too will be emigrating in April, we will be landing on 12th April 2010 (me, my hubby and 2 year old son) and are also in the process of trying to find a short term rental for around 4 weeks....I have been having a good look and for a fully furnished, 2 bed apartment I have been getting prices of $550 per week for a min of 1 month rent. The properties I have been looking at are all commutable to the Brisbane CBD-have you been finding the same?

I thought it would be nice to keep in touch with us landing around the same time

  7. Hiya, great to hear from you!! You're arriving the day before us!!! Its so exciting, but nerve racking at the same time - there's so much to sort out!!! We've managed to secure a short stay appartment in Wynnum for 3 weeks once we arrive, so after that we will look for somewhere more longer term. Have you managed to get sorted yet?

Nice to know there's other people out there going through the same thing!!! Keep in touch - it would be nice to meet up once we arrive! My little girl will be 11 months once we arrive - not looking forward to the flight!!! Whereabouts are you from? We're from Newcastle, so flying via Dubai.

Keep in touch! Love Beka, Bobby and Ava xxx
