    Hi,

My girlfriend and I will be arriving in Brisbane on Wednesday 26th. August 2009 and would like to arrange some short-term accommodation. Does anyone know of anyone who could help with this? Some of the larger properties we've seen advertised are too expensive and we don't need 4 bedrooms!

    Thanks,

    Paul

Hi have you looked into a motel? Most furnished accommodation is 3 or 4 bed homes and they seem costly because all your bills are included but compared to a hotel some prices aren't that bad.
Another option that may suit you is a cabin in a holiday park, there are a few different places some near the city, some nearer the gold coast, the cabins normally work out around $500 pr week.
If you get stuck just yell and i will give you some contact details.

Thanks so much for the help. My girlfriend has been doing some research tonight and holiday park came out top, so you've just confirmed that it's a good idea. Thanks again!

I would opt for a reputable cabin park rather than just a 'caravan park'. Some caravan parks dont look fit to house a dog,lol and arriving to a dump is the last thing you would need.

Cheers for the help. We're going to stay in a hotel for a few days first to get over the tiredness etc. but we'll definitely be checking that place out after that. Thanks again.

    Hey Mate,

Where did you end up staying? The wife and i are now in the same situation so any help would be welcomed. Also, how much did you pay?

    Thanks

    Hi Stephen

Have you tried these people Auspitality Homestay | Luxury Accomodation Brisbane Queensland Australia

They are in Thornlands and their place is ideally suited to couples. I think they charge $85 a night which is an excellent rate.

    Love

    Hi Stephen

We ended up staying in Brisbane city centre. We figured that would be the best thing to do as we had no clue about the area, and did not have a car, job or house etc.

We stayed in fully furnished accomodation in fortitude valley (not a great area) but the accomodation was really good and had everything we needed, down to cutlery, pans etc. They come in every few days and cleaned the sheets and hoovered etc. The apartements were called 'V-Human Space', I think we payed roughly 700 dollars a week, but for that there was no extra bills or anything. its very close.............2 min walk to the train station into the centre of town. It takes about 5 mins on the train.
it has an internet cafe 2 mins walk away with a fax machine etc for sending important documents....tax file ref number etc. but you can pay an extra 10 dollars a day to get an internet connection in the flat if you have your own computer.
The lady in the apartements was very helpful, printing off maps, letting us get letters sent to that address untill we got ourselves a permanent address and so on.

The first few days we hired a car and searched around the different ares for a place to live, and looking at second hand cars and the list goes on!!!!!!

if you need any more help at all, just ask.

If it helps we stayed in the apartements for three weeks untill we were sorted. in this time we had found a job, house and a car!!!!
