Does anyone know if QLD produces school league tables? I am trying to do some research to find out where the best schools are but am having difficulty. Are schools inspected by govt officials like in the UK as I would even be happy to read their reports, if I knew where to find them!
I am finding their whole education system very confusing when compared to the national UK system, but there does seem more diversity of subjects for kids to choose from - We haven't decided where to live yet as we want to make sure we locate ourselves near a good school for our son. Any advice on what are good primary schools (state or private) within the Brisbane area would be greatly appreciated.

The closest you will get appears to be the:

School reports on Year 12 outcomes.
This is an annual report compiled from data provided by Queensland schools and the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), showing various differences in results obtained between all the Queensland schools.

Reports from 2005 onwards can be located at http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/about/617.html

Note: This report is not a Queensland School League Table.
Please ensure that you read the "Year 12 school outcomes questions and answers" sheet when considering the information you read in the "Year 12 outcomes" reports.

The individual schools now have information available to compare each school against State and national averages. Currently you would need to ask each school for the information though. Not sure what plans are for the future, as this is very new.

This information is the result of the NAPLAN yrs 3,5,7 and 9 exams that have just been finalised.

    An example:

NAPLAN Results for Faith Lutheran College, Victoria Point & Thornlands, QLD
with comparisons against the mean for each State, with the Australian average also shown.

    Year 9

    SPELLING
593.0 Faith Lutheran College, Victoria Point & Thornlands, QLD
    586.7 ACT
    586.6 Nsw
    580.3 Vic
    577.0 Australian Average
    575.4 SA
    567.5 Qld
    567.2 WA
    566.6 Tas
    512.0 NT

Does anyone out there in Brisbane have any more upto date info on these school 'league' tables. Like so many of us planning a move, a good school is a base point on deciding where to live. I would prefer to find a good state school for my 2 children (11 & 8), so if any of you 'Brisbanites' can provide some useful information/websites (without me having to trawl through EVERY schools website) it would be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks

    Kath
