We are a young family of 4 who is moving to Brisbane from sydney in April. Is there anyone out there who is relocated to another state & how did you go about finding rental accommodation? We're planning on applying for a rental property offering 3/4 months rent in advanced to better our chances of finding a house.
Is this possible? Will they except our offer? How successful are these offers? We don't want to stay with family or short term accommodation.
How easy is it to find long term rental?

Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks :)

If you have someone up here to view the property and submitt paperwork for you then you should be able to secure one from Sydney. Just make sure whoever is viewing for you has the same tastes ( everyone nice is different).
If however you arent familiar with areas etc id bite the bullet and book a weeks furnished/ holiday accommodation up here whilst you find, view and secure a longer term let. I have known lots of people offer a few months upfront, more so if they are yet to find work here and cant proove income, refernces from Sydney will help you alot along with old rental recipets.

    Hope this helps a little

    Thanks Cal,

You say you know people who have made offers paying months in advanced, were they accepted? Did they apply for many before they were accepted?
We will be unemployed at the time of moving hence our offer. We do have someone who is able to look at properties for us and we are able to provide all documents needed, references, current rent statement/receipts etc.. We may have to pay short term furnished home if our offer does'nt get accepted.

I did Relocations here for 2 years and only ever knew 1 family out of approx 50, not get the first rental they applied for. Id say half of the people (including myself) who offered rent up front ,actually had it taken, for most agents / owners its just reasurance.
The more paperwork you can submit the better is what i found work best along with Australian References.

Just to add - Unlike some states here you can apply for more than 1 rental at a time, and then if your accepted for more than 1 of them, your in a position to pick which one you want, lol
