The last two years have been unusually wet and it has rained more than normal, bringing QLD out of a ten year drought. i have been here nearly 3 years so there will be members who have a lot more experience than I do with the South QLD weather. Summer is the rainy season and when it rains it normally pours it down, but saying that I believe that the UK gets more wet days than Brisbane in a normal summer, its just that a QLD storm does mean you can get what we would call a fantastic amount of water falling in a short period. Winters tend to be a dry affair and temperatures around 18 to 20c during the day and can drop to around 5c at night.

Australia as a whole is just coming out of an El nino effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_NiƱo-Southern_Oscillation) that does tend to turn the weather on its head for a couple of years, hopefully by next year we will be back to the normal cycle of weather. NSW seems to have had the worst of the rain this year with large areas being flooded and cut off.

You have not seen a thunderstorm until you see a QLD tropical thunder storm...Very spectacular.

You aint seen rain until youve seen the QLD rain,lol.... and the storms as Colin says as out of this world, its great to sit under the patio some nights and watch the lightning. In the 5 years ive been here these last 2 have been the wetest and always in summer , winter is very dry and thats when you see the brown grass etc.

The massive difference my family find is here 9 times out of 10 when its raining its still warm ,so you can still play in the pool or sea etc rather than having to hide inside. It can be hard drying clothes when it rains for a few days solid though,,so if youve got a tumble dryer -bring it ! lol
