    Hi all

Just wanted to introduce ourselves as new to site today. Hans is a sheet metal worker & we got our visa approved in October. We are planning a recky/validation trip at Easter, to include Brisbane for several days, (as this is more than likely where we'll settle - depending on getting a job of course!) We have two children 11 & 8 - so where we ultimately live will depend predominately on having good schools (pref state, not independent - not moving to other side of world to pay for schooling!)

We want to get a feel for the suburbs/areas south of Brisbane,as that appears to be where a lot of industry is, & hopefully some jobs suitable for us!? Never been before, so have been reading up on LOADS of info on the good old PIO website - head is now spinning!

So any more help/advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

look forward to getting to know you all!

    Kath and Hans

The best advice i can give you is drive, drive and drive some more !! This is the best way of seeing what the suburbs have to offer and if they are right for you. Haveyou been keeping an eye on sites like www.seek.com to see where the work seems to be ? also www.realestate.com will give you an idea of property prices and rental prices.
    Good Luck

Cal has summed it up! Research before you leave + drive around EVERYWHERE! If you have any idea where you would like to live, let us know and we`ll help you out too!

    WHat are your job plans?

    Thanks guys!
Hans is a sheet metal worker, so when he has looked up companies around Brisbane, there seems to be alot of industry on the south side. The problem we have is because we don't know EXACTLY when we might move, we don't want to look at too many jobs yet, in case we see the right one, and aren't ready. But we must find a job before we leave, because his job in the UK is secure (which in the current climate is something to hold on to), and if he left, he wouldn't be able to return to it, so we do need to know he's got the right job in Oz. (We're looking 1-2 years realistically I think).
