Hi, lm planning to be back in Australia later this year - with our dog in tow this time - can anyone enlighten me on their pet travel experiences please - which companies or situations to avoid or look out for/tips etc? My dog is quite nervy already so naturally l would like the transition to be as smooth as possible.....also if anyone has any information relating to the quarantine facilities in Sydney - we are heading to the Sunshine Coast but Sydney is our nearest station. Ideas of costings and what to let the freight company handle and whats easy enough to do ourselves? if anything?

Welcome to LIQ, our parent site "Poms In Oz" has a forum dedicated to pet travel, http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/pets/ I think you will find all the answers to your questions on there

This may be a little late but we used a company called Golden Arrow to move our cat here last year. They were wonderful and really seemed to care about her welfare which was important to us. They handled all the import/export license issues, booked quarantine and generally made the whole process less stressful for us. I would definitely recommend them.

Our cat stayed in Sydney too and we flew her up to Brisbane afterwards by a domestic air freight company, which was very simple to arrange. She certainly seemed unscathed on arrival and has really settled into being here. It might set your mind at rest to know that one of our friends brought a dog from the UK and went to visit him when he was in quarantine in Sydney - she said it was nice there and he was well looked after.

    Good luck!
