Hi we are hoping to be in Brisbane April/May 2009. We have a rather lively 2yr old! Hoping someone might know if there are many playschools/parent and toddler groups around. Not sure what area we will be living in at the moment. Just after some general info.
    Cheers.

  2. First of all Congrats. We have done the same and moved to Bris October last year. We have a 2.5 yr old. It is hard going moving here and don't expect it all to be easy but it will be worth it. We are looking for playgroups as well. With live in Holland Park area. There are some large centres (known as ABC Centres) but ideally we would prefer small groups ourselves. If we find something we will let you know. Maybe we could meet you once you have moved and started to settle as we would love for our son to start having some friends. All the best

Hi guys we used to have weekly 'playgroup in the park' the sessions were free and run by the goverment. Have a look on your local councils website.
Another smaller playgroup is one morning a week in the local primary schools after hours building, this one cost a $1, yep a$1 so well worth it for a few hours.
I am also a member of Playgroup Queensland and often get news leters and goodies in the mail.

many thanks for your reply. will definitely check out your suggestions when we arrive. our daughter does not go to nursery so we like to make sure that she goes to play groups here which she really enjoys, also a good opportunity for a coffee and a gab!
we arrive in brisbane 22nd may, staying with a friend for a couple of nights, just try to sort some short term accomodation until we get a long term rental sorted!

I don't have little ones any more, but when I did we used to go to playgroups. It was in NSW thought, but I am sure there must be a playgroup network in Qld as well. Good luck with the move.....not too long to wait now.

    Hi,
Not sure if you're still after info on this but once you've decided on a suburb if you go to www.playgroupaustralia.com and type in the potcode it will bring up a list of all the playgroups in the area.
We moved here in Oct - it was the first thing I did!
There is also Gymboree which is divided into age groups, music, crafts etc. They are set up all over the place.
Best of luck with the move. It gets easier!

Nenner I have MS, not a parent of someone who has it, at least I pray to God they dont.

I just want to suggest that you post this on some of the other message boards, like the Carepartnering and Relations board or the General Questions and Answers board. Ive seen other parents of MSers there.

Does your daughter have a computer? Maybe she would like to post here as well.

    Meet up

    Hi,

Would anyone be interested in meeting up in the park one afternoon? I have 2 boys - 2 years and 9 months and we live in the western suburbs.

  9. Good luck with the move!! We've just arrived - been here a week, and loving it already!!! We're starting to look at playgroups and nurseries at the moment for our little girl but there seems to be plenty about!!! Just give me a shout if you fancy meeting up once you arrive!!!
