Hello everybody so glad i found this website it has helped us alot, and answered many of our questions. Let me introduce to my gang. My name is ed (27), my partner is emma(27), our daughter Freya (4) and we also have one on the way.

We are currently in the process of gaining a highly skilled visa as i am a qualified plumbing, heating and air conditioning engineer. We have passed the TRA paper assesment, and are waiting for a date to do my practical test.

Which leads me to my first question, has anybody done this test or know anything about it? we are looking to move to oz at the beginning of 2009. Can anyone help us by telling us what employment is like in my trade in brisbane? Also what are the best areas to look for affordable housing and good schools? Also any tips or information on moving to or living in oz and the whole immigration process, would be helpful.

I look forward to hearing from you.

And thankyou very much for reading our thread. From Ed

i agree with alles you shouldnt struggle finding work which ever area you settle in ,i know around here they are like gold dust and can take ages for someone to actually get to you(weeks) as they are so busy.
There are loads of good areas in brissy and its surronds,it really is personal choice and depends what you as a family want.Have a look at the our brisbane website and the where2live guides are a good read if you can get hold of one.
Are you having the baby in the uk or out here to claim your baby bonus, lol!!! two is enough for me no matter how much they pay you, lol,
    good luck with everything

    Hi Ed and Family,

I am not sure about your employment question but if you go on the australia yellow pages and find your line of work and send emails with your c.v and covering letter you may find that you will be in luck.
We sorted all our employment and housing out over the net even the schools for our children. Also buy a Hema Brisbane and Region map this will help you out a lot. If you need any more help please contact me Good Luck with all this and good luck with the baby :)
