    Hello,

I am a 32 year old, soon to be qualified midwife and could do with some advice on visa's please.
My sister moved to Brisbane last year, and we want to follow as soon as we can.
I become a qualified midwife in September 2011, and i'm unsure of which visa would suit my family best.
I will be going with my partner, who is a scaffolder, and our 5 year old daughter.
We would like to know what the pros and cons are for the visa's available to us.

Many thanks in advance of your help.

    Janine

Hi...I am a qualified midwife and am hoping to emigrate to Townsville vey soon....we are just waiting for our 457 visa to be approved...originally we were going to the Gold Coast but unfortunately there are not many jobs there at the present time...if you emigrate on a 457... which is a four year visa... it can lead on to a permanent visa once you are in Australia...you are sponsored by a hospital before you arrive and may also be provided with relocation costs...this means that you have a job before you arrive...the main drawback is that if you were to lose your job for any reason you only have 28 days to find another job...otherwise you can be asked to leave Oz...sounds scarey but midwives are in most places in demand so should not be a problem...this is one of the quicker routes to emigrating...am not sure about the permanent visa...know it takes a lot longer but think I'm right in saying you dont have to have a job before you arrive so you can go anywhere you like...you do have to pass the IELTS test though which is a real pain...good and bad both ways I suppose...
