hey guys,
i'm thinking of goin to queensland to stay wit one of my friends over there but i want to work and im not sure wot i will need i knw i need a holiday working visa but its confussing please help me!!

I am not 100% sure how it works but...
I believe that you have to be over 18 and under 30 to qualify for a working holiday visa, that will allow you to live and work in Australia for 12 months. If you want to stay for a 2nd year then you have to work for 3 months in a rural area doing a job like crop picking. Most reputable agents will give you a free chat on the phone to discus your options and then you can decide if you are going down the correct route, and if you need an agent or if you can do it yourself.:biggrin:

I think you will find that al you need is the visa, and a good set of legs to do the walking round to find a job, You friend who has debt may be better getting advice from an agent. i cannot see it being a problem unless he owes the government here money, but best to get a proffessionals opinion.

 

do they do a finical check when u apply for visa, cos we are on a holiday working visa well we need proof of money!! to stay a yr say!! as im buying a return flight when i book my flights over there!!

 

Not that i have heard of, they will expect you to find work to support yourself, so i do not think they will look for financial assurance. You also said you would be staying with a friend for a couple of weeks till you find work. So there should be no need to prove you can afford to rent a property.

 

so will they need prove that we r stayin wit someone over there... also do we definitely need a licence u need or somethin i have read to work wit alchol!
as im a barmaid over ere and i have worked in a hotel... is there anythin else i need to take courses on before i go!

 

You will not need to prove you are staying with someone, Its just an extra bit of info if they ask. Any licences or permits will have to be obtained from here when you arrive, i think its just a simple procedure and not a long drawn out affair. The course is relativly short ( 1 day i believe, but not sure, perhaps someone else may know and post) and basically it is to show you understand the Aussie laws. I believe most employers will sort that out for you.

WHV, is a relativly fast visa to obtain I believe, Cannot give you a definate time line, but its not long as far as i know.

 

is that the holiday working visa i need everyone says go thro STA they r quickly quick!!

 

Yes to live and work in Australia, you will need the Working Holiday visa. I cannot comment on who is the best to go with, but despite what any agent tells you, the time to get the visa granted depends on the Australians. Check out to see if you can apply online for the WHV, it could save you a small fourtune in fees you would pay to an agent.
