Hello everyone,

To introduce us we are a family of 4 still trying to obtain that lesser spotted 175 Visa. we are (me) Anne 35 (OH) Martin 47 and (Daughter) Chloe 10 (Son) Ryan 8, 9 in 2 weeks. We moved up to CAT4 processing on the 1st July so fingers crossed the wait might be over soon (wishing anyway):wacko:
I have been on PIO for a number of years now and only came across this site yesterday so I joined up and have had some time browsing the threads.
It’s nice to have a site just for Queensland we have been looking in to moving to the Brisbane area we have looked from Brisbane to the gold coast and looked at the Logan area too, we are stuck in the visa mine field at the moment and hope that the next 12 – 18 months will bring us some good news as my trade has just come back on to the SOL so fingers crossed I might get that golden ticket I require.
I am hoping to work in the food manufacturing industry and was hoping that there might be someone on here that can point me in the right direction of any large food manufactures in the area. As if I could get a sponsor while waiting that would be even better. I’m getting to the point now where I want to be in Aus more and more every day and I hate being in the U.K. (there is no real reason for not wanting to be in the U.K I’ve just fallen out with it).
Thanks for getting to the end of this somewhat pointless post just need to vent as I can’t talk to people here cos no one knows our plans it’s frustrating but that’s the way it has to be. It’s hard to keep a secret for 3 years when it is on your mind every day.:wub:

Welcome and good luck; it can take some time.

Regarding your desire to work in the food manufacturing industry, at what sort of level would that be? The reason for asking is that there is a chicken processing factory a few miles up the road from where we are, in Mt Cotton called Golden Cockerel. There are more which are situated closer to central Brisbane. Golden Cockerel always seem to have vacancies for processors but these are taken on as casual staff to begin with. However businesses such as this are very unlikely to sponsor migrants as there are already enough Austalian residents available for this type of work. But as you state that your trade has come back on the list, I presume that you have a particular skill. I also presume that if you've been looking to come here for the last 3 years, you will have researched the internet for likely employers. With a population of 1.5 m in SE QLD, I 'm sure that there are a host of food preparation businesses.

As for areas, have a look at a recent post, (I think it was under "Moving to Brisbane"), that lists a members thoughts on good and bad areas. It might help.

Thanks for your post, I am a maintenance fitter maybe I should of put that in the first post. LOL. MT Cotton I loved it their we stayed not to fat away in Redlands Bay when we did our reccie, Loved the whole area. My kids visited the Mt Cotton cub pack which was brilliant they had a fab time. Wish I could settle their. ummmmmm. You lucky people.
