Hi Everyone, I have just been granted a 457 Visa, my wife and I will be coming to Brisbane in the next 4/6 weeks. Really excited and looking forward it,. Can anyone share some good advice? Warn us of any pitfalls? do's and Don't etc? thnks Roy
Hi and welcome to BIB. Congrats on the visa,, where about in Brissy will you be working? The best tip i can give you is not to expect everything to happen in a day,, the first month or so can be tough whilst you find your feet and get organised,,it does get easier and you can sure have a great life out here. Lots of luck with everything Cal x
Cal has some good advice there. The other thing to remember I think is that life is not perfect here either. There will be things that work and things that dont! As you settle in, you`ll realise that you will miss things, you will miss people BUT you learn to adapt. We came on a 457. What job are you going to be doing BTW?
Hi thanks for advice, I will be working near Spring Hill, have been given a serviced apartment for eight weeks then will need to be on the look out for a three bed house somewhere nice within commuting distance. I am a Recruitment Consultant in the Construction sector. Were not expecting it to be perfect but certainly looking forward to it. Both my wife and i don't have parents here in the UK, so it will just be friends we will miss and our daughter is only 9 months old (dreading the flight with her) so she hasn't settled into school yet, were hoping the perfect time for us. There will be things we miss, but all i can name is a good cuppa tea, and a Sunday roast!
Sunday roasts are do-able but you need air con on in the Summer when you cook em!!! lol! Decent cuppa can be done too! GOod Luck x
The best way of finding an area is to drive, drive and drive. So go the long way to everywhere, lol its the best way of discovering different places. Cal x
