    To say Hi to all

Currently in Adelaide (been here over 4 years from the UK). Daughter is a singer and wants to head to Griffith Uni. Also more employment opportunities for me in Queensland from what I can tell. Will be looking for people to talk to get advice from, as it's a bit like immigrating all over again...

Hiya Seabird and welcome to BIB,, i know a couple of familys who have upsticks from Adelaide and Melbourne and all seem pretty settled here now. It is a bit like migrating all over again but just a tad less paperwork this time, lol.

That's what I'd imagined... Did you mean that they moved to Melbourne of Brisbane? I have started to speak to people that have lived at both. Much easier than immigrating in two ways: 1 - you can speak to people in everyday life who have moved interstate because it is so common and 2 - you can get back to visit for a couple of hundred dollars rather than a couple of thousand.

In other ways it is the same = finding and sorting out new friends, getting to know where things are, getting used to the climate :) etc. and I gather getting used to the daylength :(

All will be determined by whether my daughter can get into the Queensland Conservatorium - pretty tough as it has a huge reputation for vocal training, and if I can get a job. The job situation for my field of work is much better up there, and salaries are higher, so let's hope and get on with a year of hard work to get where we need to be to make it a success...

    Thanks again

    Hi
I meant one family were from Melbourne and one from Adelaide, both familys now live in Brisbane.

Good luck with the job seeking for yourself,, what do you have to do for your daughter, will she need an interview?

Sorry I misread your post... Thanks, I have sent my c.v. off tonight to get some early feedback. My daughter will have to complete an audition is September, which I think can be by way of DVD. She has a stack of live solo recordings and some video footage at Adelaide Town Hall, but she'll probably want to go there an audition live. It is funny that she is so confident performing, but wants us to do this together. I am pretty lucky, she is a great kid and I will do what I can to support her as she supports me too much of the time.

Have two adult kids in the UK who didn't want to come to Oz with. I know my son will be far more likely to go to Queensland than SA, but we will wait and see...

    Thanks for your help,

    Seabird

That meant to read "supports me so much of the time", not too much of the time!!! Would love a young adult kid that did all (or any) of the cleaning, ironing, washing and shopping LOL. She makes a wicked smoothie though.... if we get to Brissie we'll hold a house warming for folk on the board to say Hi and dish out smoothies I reckon!
