    Hi Everyone;

    My husband & I run a pretty successful lawnmowing business on the Gold Coast however our heart is in FNQ and we are looking to make the move later this year. I've heard December/January is probably the worst time to move however that's just the way the timing is working out. I'd love to hear some tales from the locals up there or anyone with any advice pertaining to moving/suburbs/lawnmowing tips etc. I'm hoping the business will be just as successful up that way - just a little worried about the torrential rain in the wet season, do people still mow their lawns during this, is the drainage that good?! Also, how quickly does the grass grow with all the humidity?

    We're looking at Northern Beaches and maybe as far up to Port Douglas (absolutely love it up there). Also having a look at inland suburbs like Redlynch, Brinsmead, Caravonica etc - any tips?

    Is FNQ as friendly as it seems while on holiday up there? We haven't made many friends on the Gold Coast as we've moved around a bit and also running the business doesn't afford the workmate perks of the normal 9-5. I'm hoping to get into the community up north, it feels like the place where we might be able to make some real friends and finally feel like we 'fit in' here in Australia. We moved here from South AFrica and before that we were in the UK.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

    There are many great Cairns suburbs to choose from, just stay away from any of the ones int own.
    They are dirty and full of riff-raff!
