    Hi,
Am new to this so sorry in advance for all the questions .

Well at the moment i'm living in Adelaide with my partner and 5 month old son. We emigrated from England nearly 3 years ago. But we really really HATE Adelaide and are looking to relocate. Am looking at Brisbane, But just have a few questions.

Is there a lot of work my partner is in construction??
    Is there good schools?
    What suburbs would you suggest?
And we will be needing a holiday rental for about 3months any suggestions =)

All help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks Charlotte

    Hi there,
Don't no about work wise, and i don't have kids lol well not here mine all grown up and in uk:D

My freind lives in Bracken ridge and that seems to be good, school seems to be good to as she has two childresn and both in school there. All I know is peeps this side, with kids like Bracken ridge, Bald hills, and a lot of brits move to North Lakes or Mango hill. They all seem to be nice areas.
I live in Chermside tis ok, but we are looking to rent in Burpengarry as properties slighty cheaper up there and closer to the sunshine coast, like Malooloolaba which is loverly:D

When we landed last jan we rented in Clontarf near Redcliffe and that was fine:D And they have schools there.

I actually found our rental on Ebay. Can't remeber what company but the ladies name was Anya:D If this helps at all. They might have rentals in other areas too.
    Good luck with everything:D

    Cheers
    Brig xc:x

    Hi Char,

We have friends who have just done what you are about to do. They hated Adelaide as well and moved up here in Dec. Both kids are in school and loving it and both both parents are working. Now I'm arranging their mortgage as they are looking to buy soon. They arranged a 12 month rental before they arrived as they had the benefit of someone here who gave the place a "once over" to make sure it was as it appeared on the web.

As for construction jobs, you can't go wrong here mainly because of the floods, and therefore a lot of reconstruction, but also it's very much a growth area. As for which area, that is very much down to the choice and taste of the individual; what suits me may not suit you. And even then every area has it's own good and bad side. Usually a big decider here depends on where the work is because of the river. Out of choice you don't really want to be crossing the river twice a day so that tends to split people into either the North or the South. And you can always research schools on the web.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Hi Charlotte ..

A friend of mine has recently relocated here from Adelaide, she'd also been there for three years. For her, Brissy has it all and her children have been very happy within their schools. We're in the Bayside area and love the area. My child is currently at Manly state school and he really loves it, as does many of my friends' children who also go there.

    Hi Charlotte
We moved from Perth to Bris last September and have no regrets at all. Having previously lived coastal, we wanted to be close to the water and needed to be near to the city for OH's job, so Wakerley (east of the city, bayside) is where we've landed. We rented an unfurnished house in Lota to start off with and our stuff only took 10 days to be shipped...almost a bit too quick!
We found www.realestate.com.au fantastic for our rental search. Good luck!

    Rudi Relocation Brisbane

    Hi Charlotte

Welcome to the forum. There's a few people who have posted about moving up from Adelaide this year!!! I have a friend who moved up a few months ago and has just bought a house up here after renting for a while.

I am another Bayside Babe  and love living here. I am a bit further south in the Bayside than Myrtle and Mindarie though, in Thornlands. I love living in this area - kind of town meet country where we are.

If you need a short term let, let me know if I can help at all, the link to my places is in my signature. 3 months is a LONG time to book a holiday let - most people moving into the area book in for around 4-6 weeks. That is usually enough time to find a longer term rental or even buy.

    Good luck with the move!!!

    Love

    Rudi
