Hi There,I am looking for some help. Me (27), my partner (27) and my son (17 months) are moving to Brisbane in April this year. My partner has a job in Wacol. I was wanting some advice on which suburb to live close to Wacol not too far from the city and within driving distance from the Gold Coast. Ideally we would like a suburb good for families to suit my little boy with nice parks etc. I have been researching but you can only find so much information on the net. Thanks.

Have a look at Jimboomba and Flagstone. I have lived here 5 years and its a great area. Hubby works down on Gold Coast ,it takes him around 50 mins and Wacol in the other direction is about 25 mins.
Springfield Lakes, Calamvale, Boronia Heights, New Beith are all nice areas that would give you access to either place.

Springfield Lakes is relatively new so schools, shops, parks, kindys etc all quite new too, its a lovely family area but the downside is most of the houses are on tiny little plots so you dont have much of a garden.

Migrating is scarey, lol,, its hard at first, everything is alien to you ,you dont know anyone and you do have day where you think 'What have i done?' ,,lol,, after a few months it gets easier and as time passes it just gets better!! lol..
I have found most of the Aussies are really friendly and will help you if you need it, dont be afraid to start a conversation though and remember to talk s l o w l y or you might just get a blank look off them until they get used to your accent, lol.

My advice would be to rent when you initially arrive and then have a good look around at the different areas that have already been mentioned. My husband used to work at Wacol and we were in Ipswich for a few months, but I would definitely check out Springfield Lakes first. I have been here for 12 years and it does get easier as time goes on. Good luck with everything lilipillix
