We are relocating to the Brisbane area permanently in January 2013. I will be visiting the city this month and hope to make contact with a relator to find a suitable rental for my family. I have a good job and it will be me, my partner, and our son. I'll likely be looking in the North Lakes area. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Also finding that I may need a furnished place (seems shipping from the USA takes FOREVER). That or not bring any furnishings and buy there. Any suggestions for where to scope furniture prices would be helpful too!

    Thanks!

Lots of shops do furniture packages. There is Fantastic Furniture who have Ikea type quality pretty cheap, you can buy a basic full house package for around $1000. Super A Mart have slightly better quality furniture for a little bit more and there are lots of individula factory outlets with some decent bargains in them too.
