Hi,we r moving from SA to QLD having spent two and a half years in SA :confused:we find that it is not for us,i can transfer my job as an engineer to QLD and due to my job can locate either Gold coast or Sunshine coast maybey Brissy.
We have just come back from a hol/recci(wearing rose tinted glasses )and spent a week in Gold and Sunshine coasts.
One reason for moving is that SA is failing my kids and wife with the secondary education and employment (only our opinion, not bagging it as others love SA:wink:) can anybody suggest any good R12 schools and nice areas to live, near sea would b nice athough not important .
    kind regards

Hiya sorry to hear you can't settle, but glad you had a great holiday! lol
Choosing an area is tough as there are so many great areas out there. Did you prefer the quiteness of the Sunny Coast or the upbeat lifestyle of the Gold coast?
Where is your company here? and how will you be looking to commute? private or public transport?

    Hi,
We made the same move you're making last April. We gave Adelaide 3 years and decided it was;nt for us. Funny you mention the education comment as we have both noticed how our son yr8 seems to have come on leaps and bounds since we moved up here. They did'nt seem to push him enough in SA.
Regarding schools there are lots of good schools around , it all depends where you live.
We moved to Ormeau Hills which is just over half distance between Brizzy and Surfers, we're 4 mins to the motorway , Brizzy takes 40 mins and Surfers 25 so we can get to either for work purposes.
It was hard going at first , no friends, family or jobs but after 10 months things are falling into place nicely and we know we did the right thing moving here.
We dont know that much about the big area yet but if you want to know anything about this area feel free to ask.
    Cheers

i was on the gold coast for 2 years and it was nice for a holiday but to live there its to busy like being in london but with sun and the houses are so expensive and small:rolleyes:
there are some really nice beaches there but i like the beaches in sa better cleaner and not as crowded because there are so many of them:smile:
there is litter everywhere in brisbane but in adelaide it is really clean
and it is a lot more expensive in brisbane than adelaide:laugh:

Sounds like you went straight to the touristy bits of the Gold Coast guys. I personally prefer the beaches around Kirra and Coolangatta , they are less crowded and very clean, also mainly aussies so not over run with tourists.
Surfers etc is great for a day trip but i couldnt live there, way to hustley and bustley not to mention touristy, north Gold Coast, far south gold coast or just a few mins inland are places where you can experience 'real life' and places were i would live if i choose to move to the coast.

Too Easy!!! You shouldn't go on Brizzy sites bagging the place!!! lol!!! I have to admit I do have a soft spot for the Gold Coast and have often wondered what it would be like to live there but you have put me off now!! Is it really that bad??

Hi we're another family living in SA and finding it hard to settle. We orriginally landed in Brisbane when we arrived in Oz in Nov 08. To cut a long story short due to the lack of work for my husband and i do think we panicked he got a jod offer here and thats how we ended up in SA.

So we had a week tasting QLD and just fell in love with it. Yes the beaches are nice here (not big enough waves hubby tells me!) but thats about it, and please dont hound me with things to do in SA as we have done most and everytime we go somewhere our dreams are smashed.

We have booked cheap flights thanks to tiger airways specials and are going to do a proper reccie in August with the plan of finding a nice area to live in, possiblity of a job for OH and a good school for our 6yr old (all offers on them welcome!!)
