    Hi all,
In the UK i had a MOT station and it was always busy. The reason was because it only did MOTs. People believed they were getting an unbiased test, as many test stations were attatched to a workshop, hence failing a car for the repair work.
    Can anyone answer these questions.......
Are there any safety check stations in Qld that just do safety checks? If so are they busy? Are any stations busy ie 2 or 3 days to get an appointment?
Whats the average charge or are they all the same? Do many have mobile guys attatched to them?

    Thanks

    Colin

I think you would really struggle to make a living out of just doing safety checks. In Queensland the safety checks are not the same as an MOT in the UK. I am not even sure that it's the same as other states - in NSW you need to have your car tested every year (but it only takes ab out 10 minutes) but here in Qld I don't think you do.

Hiya the only time you really need a safety check is if you are selling the vehicle. Here in Oz theydont seem to buy and sell them like the english do, this seem to keep them for years.
Lots of the car sales garages use mobile mechanics to carry out the checks,i am also pretty sure you need a licence to carry out safety checks as hubby was offered a job last week doing checks and was asked if he had the ''ticket'
As with anything the best thing to do is wander around a few test centres when you arriveand ask the guys there what the score is.
    Hope this helps a bit
