As I really missed my football, I bravely went to watch the Brisbane Roar alone. I was tapped on the shoulder by another POHM (From Glasgow) as I clearly looked lost and must have been dressed very POHMIE. He had a spare ticket. I now attend all the matches and have a season ticket and I find its better if you are in a bunch. The season is almost over but if you don't fancy going alone or if are if there are any other small bunches of die hard fans, we would love to either be part of a bigger group or even become a bigger group, please come back to me.:notworthy:

    Hi Mate,

I am originally from Edinburgh, and I moved out to Australia to take advantage of all the opportunities in the mining industry in Queensland. As you were saying, the season is now for all intents and purposes over, but I guess that there is always the AFL and Rugby to attend! The Queensland Reds are pretty entertaining.

Let me know if you and your friend from Glasgow fancy catching up for a beer at some point.....

    Regards,

    Chris

Chris, the more the better. As the roar are now in the final 22nd April (my 27 year old son is over here at the moment) so a few of us are going, you are welcome to come. We should be buying tickets soon and last year it was a capacity crowd. Now! Beer. If you like beer, we have a local brewery and we get together and brew 160 bottles a time and split them, I brewed in the UK but the stuff I made here is very good.
Can I ask your marital state, do you have a family here etc. What you do for a living in the mines? etc. Also, please don't be a Rangers fan! Gavin (Scot) will hate that. I am in IT but do lots of work with the mines. Me and another mate will probably do the AFL and even the rugby so I am sure we can arrange something soon. Pete

    where indeed

Originally from Bolton but lived in Whitchurch for ages. The roar and Foxtel make up for what I miss and redbay brewery does a good job of allowing us to brew our beer. We have a bunch of us who each brew and share out the beer. Got up at 04:45 to watch Bolton get thrashed. I must be mad.

I lived in Shrewsbury after leaving the Pool untill we came here and yes I know Whitchurch, I did a repair to the old sandstone water fountain I think it use to be , on the the A49 at the side of the road there, one with the spire. I went to the the first ever Roar game and was not impressed, I did go back a few times but gave up on It, ex -player and all, you wana get out there and kick the ball sindrum, ah well the good old days and yes you are mad for getting up at 4.45 in the morning to watch Bolton not the 4.45 bit, the Bolton bit ;-) I keg my beer, just dont have the time to bottle these days. seya Mucka. Bob. I am an IT and work for a company who do a lot of the process networks. It is difficult to just "get in" unless you know someone. If you have a skill try companies like Rio Tinto, BMA, Downer, Theiss, Peabody or Hancock. Also try http://opportunities.qld.gov.au/ as a start. The Roar is not great but its all we have and some evenings, I feel as though I could pull my boot on and give them a game. The important question is is it the Blue side or Red side of Liverpool?

I was too old at 23 I was told at the Meadow then I watch younsters -23 playing these days and feel cheated, and you should know what Y.N.W.A. stands for (see my last post to you ), I am a true Red, my first game would have been watching the likes of sainty Yatesy and the flying pig in goal from the cage (boys pen) I stayed up to watch the Man City game and was be hind them all the way, I only wish they had given Newcastle and that Pirch bloke (R/B) a good thumping, and the manscum game was priceless. They needed smiley badges one thinks becouse they could'nt raise one, I will check out the site but have already searched some of the others with no luck.

    Regards,
    Bob.

My hubby's desperate to meet new people and escape me n the kids (or maybe its the other way round), reckon he would really enjoy going out to see the ROAR and getting into Aussie life properly. When does the new season start? He really misses his footy

Then he can come along, one of the guys who comes has an eight year old so perhaps he should consider two season tickets. The adult one is only $225! kids even less! One of our lot will get tickets all together if he wants although he will have to cough first. Season has just finished and will start September. The other thing I miss was my beer but we have found a local microbrewery who allows us to brew beer at his facility which works out at $1.20 a bottle. I know this is awkward particularly for blokes but reassure him, its only creepy at first. We have some good friends who we met this way and its definitely nothing salacious in it. If you get on, you get on, if not he will have someone to cheer with as a minimum.

Its a shame we only mix with other pohms but we live here now.

My wife is very very very very very chatty and I am sure she will be happy to meet.

    We are in Wynnum.

Hi all, not sure if this thread is out of date but here goes anyway.

I'm Vivek, 40, born and bred Londoner. I moved to Brissie in april 2013 with my Aussie wife & our 2 year old little boy.

I love football (THFC) & would love to go to some live sport (& drink beer!) here in Brissie. Cheers! Vivek

You can add kids onto any season membership for just $50.

Last season was the best A-League season yet with the Western Sydney Wanderers making a big entrance.

My son and I are looking forward to next season.

Hmm, getting quite jealous of you guys going to the footy ( oops soccer) Had to give up our lovely season tickets for Goodison Park when we came over :( I did say though that I would love to go to a game in a t-shirt instead of 10 layers )! So whilst I won't impose on important lads and dads trips to the footy. Look out for an Everton lady giving Brissy some support when the season begins....Oh and how cheap are those seasons tickets..yipeee

Excellent, another Brisbane Roar fan in the making !!!!! :)

Oh, and the game finally has been officially renamed to football here now...Soccer Australia become Football Federation Australia. So just ignore the buggers and call it football :)

Just to clarify, I'm definitely up for a few Roar matches but not a season ticket. When you guys are going to the new games in August please let me know and I am guessing I can try and book seats near you all? Thanks!

    Come on you Spurs!
    Come on you Roar!
