Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, and have a few questions about migrating to Australia from the U.S. My husband has applied for a visa, but we aren't sure how long it takes to get one approved. He does meet all the criteria for the migration. Under 45 and skilled in trades and just about anything else! I mostly work in the hospitality industry. How hard or easy would it be for me to snag a job there? Here in the U.S it seems as if employers in the hospitality industry are stuck on somones age or what they look like. I know that Australians are more laid back....at least thats what I hear!

We are thinking Brisbane would be the best city to move to, and would like as much info as we can get on the city. What areas are the best to migrate to? Are there slums in Brisbane??LOL. Also... My credit is not very good. At this point its pretty bad. Will that stop them from approving his visa? We are very much looking forward to moving there and starting new. Living near the ocean, the climate, and the economy are so much better. We are also taking our dog. I hear the quarentine process is long and painstaking. If anyone knows more about that, I would appreciate it.

    Hi Judy:)
It just about frazzles your brain doesnt it???
ok I'm not sure if the U.S has the same processing time as UK but our took a bout 6 months from sending the visa to it being granted...A good site to maybe look at would be www.austimeline.com
I know there are people from lots of countries on there so that may help a little
I dont think your bad credit will be an issue, I think they are mainly concerned with police checks and medicals being approved more than anything..
Brisbane is a lovley place, but I am bias, we live on The Sunshine Coast which is 50 mins north of Brissy..There are so many gorgeous areas to choose from ..
    Hope this helps for now
