    Heloooooo

We have our Medicals booked in for next Friday (11th march 2011) at the Manchester clinic... and we are very very aprehensive...
Does anyone have any experiences to report, either on Medicals in general or Medicals in the manchester Clinic... We have to travel from Sheffield to get there and are worried that this may be the only thing that stops us going and living our dream ....

All experiences/comment will be thankfully recieved....

    Hi Lisa,
I also had my medical at manchester, i was pretty nervouse about what was going to be done.
You really dont have anything to worry about.
I was in no more than 40 minutes.
they check eyesight, weight, take a sample of blood, take blood pressure, urine sample lay you on a bed and check the joints in arms and legs, after that it was onto the xray of your chest.
The doctors are really good and put you at ease as soon as you go in.
    hope this helps.
    Mick.

    Hi Lisa

We also had our medicals at Manchester. I'd agree with Mick, we had a few nerves but they were completely unfounded. The staff were great and the doctor we had put us at ease very quickly and in fact we had quite a laugh with him.

Hope things go OK as they did for us. Let us know how you feel after you've been.

    Good Luck

    Dave

Hi I had my medicals done there in November last year. The doctor I saw was great, really friendly and I was put at ease immediately. I felt like I'd had a really good service when I came out! He said he couldnt disclose to me fully the outcome of the check but at the same time if there was anything wrong I had a right to know. I did ask him after if all was ok and he said everything was fine...
He took some blood, checked my eye sight, and then did a thorough exam with me lying on the couch first- flexed my legs and arms, checked reflexes, listened to my chest and felt my tummy. I did have to srtip down to my bra and pants but got covered with a sheet and i was offered a female chaperone. Then I had to stand and was asked to touch my toes whilst keeping my legs straight! No chance lol checked my spine and felt my neck. All in all I was in about 35 mins. One small tip though lol- As he was checking my spine my sheet slipped off and i hadn't given this any thought when I was getting dressed in the morning, but I'd gone for my lovely big comfy knickers! Unfortunately they're not of the most flattering variety, I really wished I'd thought of that that morning but still....
They also advise you to be mid cycle as I know of one person who failed the medical because of haematuria (blood in urine).
X Ray was straight forward enough, and then I had to have my photo taken to accompany my report. For me, the full medical, x Ray and a couple of blood tests came to a total of £315. I also went for the e visa thing and the tests were uploaded within 48 hours, and verified by diac shortly after that so really efficient.
    Good luck!

We too used the Manchester clinic and it was nothing to worry about. We werent kept waiting long, which was good with the kids and the medical itself was pretty basic.
Try not to worry too much i am sure you will be fine

Can't help with the E thing sorry.

When we went, we too saw Dr Million. We were shouted into his room as a family and all stayed together for our meds, there was a curatin around the bed for when you take your T-Shirt off, but you leave your bra on anyway so its nothing hubby and kids hadnt already seen, lol

We did have to go in seperate for x-rays but you are in and out in minutes.
