    Hi Nikkie,

    Welcome to LIQ

Not sure how many members are from Caboolture, but we do have members on Bribie island, I hope you manage to connect up with some of them. Do they still have the discount butchers at Caboolture, I miss going in there for our meat and outside was a fruit and veg place, but that was about to close last time I was over there.

From what I remember it was over the road from ANZ bank. Coming from Bribie Island we came over the railway bridge and its just on the left, access was through a small complex of different business about 50yrds after the bridge on the left.

Hi! We moved up mainly for work. My OH designed Xbox/PS3 games in Melbourne but the industry isn't doing too well at the mo (2 redundancies in 2 years and 3rd company not paying wages on time if at all) so we decided to cut our loses and get out. He was offered a job in Brisbane developing software for the mining industry and that was that. Plus the weather really does help lol and we do just love it up here.

If you go to settings, on the left you can edit your profile pic and avatar etc. Must admit though I did mine more by luck than judgement lol.

Thanks Emma I've done it.. at last..

Your OH jobs in Melbourne sounded like the perfect job for a guy.. shame that industry isnt doing well.. good news about his job up here tho..

Just waiting for George to wake up then were going to the local swimming pool for a swim and play about..
How old are your kids? have they settled into schools up here ok? and in Australia in general?

    Well Done lol!

It was the perfect job (if he had been paid) for a guy although he's always had fairly interesting jobs, he designed and tested warheads in the UK, such a big kid!

My 2 girls are 10 and nearly 9. They've both settled in quite well to their new school here and I'm really pleased with it. They made loads of close friends in Victoria so it was quite hard to move them again but they are doing ok... as long as you ask them on a good day lol. They belonged to a swimming club down there too and did really well so we're looking to start that up again come September. I find it's best to keep them busy plus it helps them, and me, make friends. I guess George is too little to notice lol. How are you coping with it all, being a stay at home mum can be tough going as it is without all the moving? What does your OH do?

Just out of interest, what is Caboolture swimming pool like? Kids are getting desperate for a swim again.

just come back from the Caboolture Aquatic Centre says its in Burpengary?!?! but still very good theyre was a class going on for the kids whilst we were there so didnt get into the smaller pool... but heaps of kids there looked like there could have been some kinda competition going on there.. as we went out it said on the wall that the after school club was starting up soon .. i can't quite remember.. might be worth giving them a call or checking them out on the web..
in the summer it must be great the outdoor pool is more like a hotel pool there is a little play area, bbq's, big sand area for volleyball and tennis courts.. oh and a gym..

We came over here 2009. i got sponsored as a massage therapist in a spa up in Cape Trib.. unfortunately the spa went broke .. we have friends in Kingaroy as we came over here 8 years ago as backpackers and worked for them , stayed friends etc.. they offered us management jobs up at the Bunya Mountain resort.. running a general store , restaurant and motels, houses etc.. we were there until April .. George was born up there.. he is too young to know whats going on.. we went back to the UK for a month so George could meet his relatives back there.. so we've just been back 3 weeks.. its been a busy few months..
    so were just getting settled..
OH is waiting to here back from a job in Caboolture.. should here tomorrow or Friday cross fingers.. ive started going to a playgroup with george on a Tuesday morning and storytime at the library on a wednesday morn.. so trying to get meet people that way.. it'll take time i suppose !

Thanks so much for the links, I think we've tried that one, it looked as if it would be absolutely gorgeous in the summer. The girls school has a swimming club so will probably try that one first and see how they go, they really do miss it though.

Sounds like you've had quite an adventure. We moved over in 2008 but had never been here before and didn't know anyone either. We were amazed at just how friendly everyone was. Good luck with the job in Caboolture, it's nice when you can feel settled and back to some form of normality. The job in Bunya sounds fantastic, we love the country but we also love the coast, Dan likes to think of himself as a bit of a surfer lol (he is getting there I suppose).

Oh no! That's the only date we can't make, Lilys 9th birthday is on 22nd so we're planning on having her party on the Sunday. Of course it depends on the roller rink and what time everything is. We'll make it if we can, would be lovely to meet you all. xx
