So rather then ask "what is an acceptable wgae", I'd like some examples of living costs in Brisbane.

Here's some categories - is there anything else I'm missing?

    Renting
    Content Insurance
    Life Insurance
    Private Health Ins
    Car Insurance
    Car Loan
    Broadband & Phone
    International Phone Calls
    Foxtel TV
    Electric
    Gas
    Rates (Council Tax)
    Train Fares
    Water Rates/Usage
    Petrol
    Mobile Phone x 2
    Car Maintenance & Repair
    House & Garden Maintenance
    RAC
    School Fees
    Food
    Restaurants & Take-away food
    Clothes
    Entertainment/Holidays
    TOTAL

Now I know everyone will be different, but for background, it will be myself, my wife, and our 3 year old son.
An idea of living costs would be great so I can work out if $6k per month take home will be sufficient to let us live 'comfortably'

    Anyone?

Feel free to send me a PM if you don't want to do it publicly, but the information would really help!

    Thanks :)

    Hi
We happily manage a family of 4 , detached house on acerage with a pool and workshop but dont have an income of $6000 pr month. Even with prices rising here this last year our cost of living is less than it was in the UK 5 years ago. We still have weekends away, days out, meals out and treats but IMO it will take you a while to get a good idea of your real cost of living as when you first arrive you dont know where to go for what or who does the best deals etc..

Not much I can add to Colins list, apart from Foxtel - full package around $120pm. Contents insurance, impossible to give you an exact figure, too many variables, but based on contents value of around $65,000, you'd be looking around $300 for the year.

Ok, so from the prices, $6k should be manageable, if we're careful.

Right, now to worry about the interview :)

)We bring in around $5k-5.5k pr month. We are a family of 6 (4 kids) and rent a huge 4 bed home with a spa.
We eat organic but dont have private health. We dont have much lefta t the end of the month but managed a holiday on the coast this year.
We love our life though but are not materialistic.
We could eat way cheaper and rent much cheaper and have much more money to spend.
