    Hi all

we are thinking of moving to Brisbane in feb 2011, could anyone tell me if there is any demand for fibre optic engineers, I have heard there is a national broadband rollout and was hoping to maybe get in at the start of the project. we have our visa,s as we lived in Perth for over a year before retuning to UK, but Perth is just to expensive to return to , so thought we give brisbane a try...cheers for now....

    Hi, Welcome to BIB,

The national Broadband has started its rollout, but depending on what happens in the election today it could grind to a halt.

Have you taken a look at Seek.com to see what is available in your line of work, there is talk in Brisbane of running a "cable" system through the sewers to the houses but I do not live there so not sure what is going on now. Good luck with your search, I hope it all works out for you.

    Hi
Iv been looking into this for a while and its been a nightmare trying to nail down who looks after the networks. it seems that there are lots of different companies running lots of little networks where as over here its mainly virgin media and a small growing bt. Like Colin said it looks like the election result could make or break the big network idea that they need over there. 'National broadband network' seems ready to go and seem to be getting their management recruited so im keeping an eye on them to see if they get the go ahead
