Ok, so your getting soft since moving here...

I must admit, I have been here nearly 12 months now and you soon start to get used to the warmer weather and I have have found that when the temperature drops from 26c during the day to 16c at night i do feel chilly. If I was in the UK and had these temperatures a month away from winter i would say how nice it was. But i am still in my shorts and not quite got to the stage you have cal.

Do you think its because you now got your citizenship ...., you have become an Auzzie.

Yep, definitely getting colder!!!! I have been wearing jeans for WEEKS, but am putting on a jumper first thing. The heating hasn't gone on yet, but I reckon we'll be pulling the radiators out of storage in a couple of weeks!!

wow im really suprised that it gets cold in winter in brisbane, am i just being naive hahaha. I lived in sydney for a year and remember seeing frost on the ground, we went on a journey to perth over the winter months and stayed in canberra in june and it was freezing. we also stayed near one of the ski resorts (i cant remember the name) but it was so cold we had to rent a caravan for a night .
whats it like though in brisbane year round, ive heard the humidity it 90% in the summer is this true, it would be great if you guys could give me an idea of what its like through the year. thanks a lot Fi

    Hi fiona,

I arrived end of June last year the average day time temperature was around 20c, dropping a few degrees at night. We did have a few nights where it dropped to 5c but warmed up quickly once the sun came out.

I live on the coast so my idea of humidity will be different to those who live in the city, this summer temperatures have been between 30 and 35 some days, but where I live i get a cooling breeze from the sea and do not feel the humidity as much as some areas do. I do not have aircon in my unit, but I have found a fan is Plenty to keep me cool enough on most days. I think if you live more inland then aircon would be a must. My biggest complaint would be the warm nights, that is what I found the hardest to get used to and I would have appreciated aircon some nights when its warm.

Its pretty good all year round except a month in summer (mid Dec to mid Jan) when you think OMG its too hot, im going to melt away and a month in winter (mid July to Mid Aug) when you think OMG give me my money back no-one said Brisbane got this cold!!! lol

After the heavy rain today we ventured out this evening in light rain jackets - and were noticeably the only ones covered up and slowly melting... no points for spotting the new arrivals there then

I think it can depend a bit where you live. On the coast Dec and Jan are ok......it's Feb and March you have to worry about!!! That's when the humidity sets in the it is PHEW!!!!

I agree about July and August though.....that's when my heating goes on!

Well it's still like the middle of winter here at the moment and I'm feeeeezing!! I was painting the outside of the house yesterday (making it pretty to sell!) and I was wearing 2 coats and a woolly hat! What a sight that was! I dream of only having to put on a fleece to keep warm..... you lucky things! Well hopefully it won't be too long.....
