Just a quick question! Do you get a lot of mosquitos in Queensland?

It's just they have a tendency to eat me alive whenever I encounter them and I end up covered in big red lumps! Not a good look!

Can you spend time outside in the evenings without being eaten?

If you are outside without any repellant around Dawn or dusk you are at risk of being bitten by mossies. Areas close to still water are places to avoid at this time.

    Hi,

I live next to Mangroves and there can be a lot of the little buggas around. The local council use a helicopter to spray the area to kill them off but some survive and they seem to like English blood. I get bit, they ignore my wife.

As cal said, use a GOOD insect repellent when they are around (dusk/dawn). You can buy personal spray on repellent and you can buy the ones that sit on your table and spray repellent into the air around you. Do not leave water in buckets anywhere it can just stand as this attracts them.

If you do suffer a lot from the bites and get red hives and sever itching take a anti histamine tablet (hay fever tablet) that will help with the reaction to the bite.

And if they are anything like the ones who bite me, you can here them coming as they chirp “fee fie foe fum I smell the blood of an English man”

    Hi Emma

It depends where you are. I have friends who live on Raby Bay (Cleveland) and they don't seem to have ANY mozzies there......a couple of k's along the road and you can be eaten alive! A decent repellent and some mozzie candles etc and you should be fine.

    Love

We must just be really tasty Colin!!

I think maybe Raby Bay sounds good Rudi if it's Mozzy free! Either that or I'd just better get an industrial size can of insect repellent! Lol!

Maybe not then!! It'll have to be the industrial sized can of repellent!! Lol. Or maybe I could just wear a giant mosquito net!

The good part is that it is not all year, and as Rudi said, not in every area, some are free of these pests. if we sit outside in the evening a mozzie candle seems to keep them away.
