    Hi,

I have not imported a car myself but I know of people who have, things you need to consider include,

    Cost of transport,
Cost of steam cleaning and cleaning in Australia if Customs decide it needs cleaning again.
    Registration fees
The vehicle has to be tested to ensure it meets Aussie standards.
It becomes a "grey import car" and its value is lowered because it is a private import
As an import you are limited to what insurance companies will insure you, I believe there are only about two who insure private imports.

Some believe the costs are justified and are happy to bring thier car, others think it just to much trouble and do not bother. Try googling importing cars to QLD or checking the transport web site to find the costs involved.
