  1. Good morning from a very wet and cold bournemouth.

Has anyone imported a bike to oz,ive tried reading and understanding all the bumff on the officiall website but it tends to just fry your brain.I have a honda vfr 750 fv which i would like to take with me to brissbane (if my visa comes) as importing my car seems to be a no no and dont really want have to buy 2 cars.If anyone that has done so recently or is doing so could help me out with prices/costs etc would be very much apprieciated.I am going to ring the Australian consulate in London to see what they have to say,i will post their reply.
    Thanks. Duncan

  2. import a motorcycle

    Hi
Just had email back from Australian cuustom with regards to above.
You pay 10% of the value of the bike +10% of the combined costs of shipping and insurance.
also your bike needs to be steam cleaned, so sunday riders dont need to worry to much!!.
Hope this helps anyone thinking about doing so

Hi did they mention the costs this end when the bike arrives? i believe you have to pay conversion costs ,have a safety cert done(like an MOT) and all these little things add up. I was told it is best to look at bringing the bike as 'spares' by taking the wheels off etc but we didnt look into it as it seemed to expensive, we sold road and off road bikes and bought again here.
Thanks for the info though, it will be good for other members
