    Hello All,
We are moving to Oz on 20th January '09!! We want to stay around Northern Gold Coast area. Is 2 weeks long enough to stay in a holiday rental while we are looking for something long term??

If anyone has any good experiences around this area with holiday rentals please let me know which ones i'm on the search now!

    Thanks
    Lol

i always recommend 2 to 3 weeks in short term as some rentals arent always available straight away. The advantage you have is you arrive just as xmas hols are finishing so shouldnt have any hold ups there. Good luck with everything

    Hey Cal,

We are flying over to Oz on 1st December so should arrive in Brisbane on the 3rd. Having some difficulty in securing a rental before we arrive without paying way over the odds and I have to start my new job on 8th December (Not much time to sort things). Anything you can advise?

Hiya ,whichever way you do things it will be bloomin hard starting work so soon. Lots of rentals aren't available there and then and sometimes you have to wait a few weeks until you can move in. You must also BOTH be present to sign the rental agreement which can be hard if one of you has already started work.I would try having a little chat with your employer here and just say you didnt quite realsie how much you had to do on arrival would it be possible to start a week or two later,,it will be much esier on your sanity if you can do this.lol
You cant take on a rental without an internal inspection, they are VERY important ,most agents wont even speak with you until your here as the houses go so quickly ,they just arent interested .Some companys will view properties for you but as you say ,you pay for this. Its one of them catch 22 sitautions that caught us out when we arrived ,we had to wait just over 3 weeks and without anywere 'proper' to live and with young kids it was a nightmare, lol, thats part of the reason i set up in Relocation/furnished accommodation ,i didnt realise how hard it was until i did it ,lol ,never again ,lol.
