there isnt much left to do for us now, my husband needs to find a job, we need to sort removals out and then sell our cars.
i have a job too at the mater as a scrub nurse im nervous as since qualifying ive only worked in 1 job but i am really looking foward to meeting new people and gaining new skills.
well it seems like yesterday that we were in australia on a plane home 10 years ago and said 'we will be back one day' we will be there so soon, its giving me goosebumps writting this.
    well bye for now everyone

    Hi Welcome to BIB,

I am sure you will settle into the Mater, the amount of Nurses I have heard of that go there I should think its 50% poms staffing the hospital.

Good luck with your move and keep us informed about how things are going for you.

    Hi Fi

Welcome to Brits in Brisbane. I met a few nurses last week - one who works at the Mater. She is happy there. Really exciting for you - you'll be here before you know it!

    Love

  5. Hi Fi,
nice to know that someone else is nervous. We emigrated to perth and didn't settle. Returned to uk and within 24hrs knew we'd made a huge mistake. Two years later and we plan a rekkie to Brisbane this Christmas coming. I'm also a nurse and wish you best of luck on your move and your new job.

    Hi Maggie,

Welcome to BIB, feel free to ask questions if there is anything you would like to know about the area, we will do our best to answer them.

You will find that Brisbane area is totally different to Perth and we have some great areas around here to visit and live in and loverly mild winters here.

  10. Hi colin,

    Hi maggie,

Well we can see your messages so you must be doing something right.,

You can either reply to an existing "thread"' by doing what you have done and you message appears at the bottom of that thread, or if you want to ask your own questions it is better to start a thread of your own and that is easy (i can do it so anyone can).

To start your own thread look at the right hand side of the screen you will see the "Forums" menu, click on the topic you want to discuss, such as "migration issues", that brings up the list of topics already posted in that thread. At the top you will see " new Thread" if you click on that a box appears and you can put in there whatever you want, add a title and submit your thread. If you make a mistake you can go back and edit at any time.

We do not screem and shout so no need to worry about getting things wrong!

Also if you want to email or send a private message (PM) to someone on here, you can do that by clicking on their name and a menu appears showing you the options to contact them.

So feel free to start a thread and ask questions. I am sure someone will be able to answer or we will do our best to help you.
