  1. Hi there everyone, thought I would introduce us all as we are new to this website (and what a great website it is!!)
Firstly I'm Jen, then hubby Charlie, and daughters Mhairi (2yrs) and Isla 16 weeks. We are in the process of applying for our visas for our new life in Oz and are planning the big move early 2009.
Already getting butterflies in the stomachs just thinking about it, however we cannot wait as we know so many people who've done it and said that wild horses wouldn't drag them back to the U.K.
We never thought we would leave our families and friends but Charlie is a hairdresser and apparently there is a real shortage of them in Oz. So we thought what the heck, lets give it a go. The lifestyle sounds so much better and lets face it, at least you can plan a day out and be guaranteed decent weather.
It would be great to hear from anyone with advice on areas around Brisbane, we have been looking at nudgee, acacia ridge and basically any areas within easy commuting distance from the city (and near a golf course as I'm a bit of a golf widow).
Look forward to hearing from you all, Jen.

    welcome

:biggrin:Hi and welcome to the site.
It is hard to tell people about areas because until you get here and see the areas as many areas have many different looks and ethnic groups and more so near the city.
There are many different suburbs a bit futher out which are still well comutable and well presented housing and shops.
We live in coomera and it is 45mins from city and 15 from surfers paradice and many shopping centres with lots of hair dressers in.
Hope that helps you a bit and all the best the taylors coomera.

Hi there and welcome from Brissies west side of town!

  6. Thanks folks,
it was great to hear from you all. You're probably right, in that there are so many areas around Brisbane to choose from but one things for sure we are definately going to Brisbane as it sounds perfect for us. We are getting soooooo nervous and excited, even my 2 year old keeps asking when are we going.
Once we get the house and businesses sold we'll be there, cant wait to leave the U.K. call me pessimistic but things are getting worse here what with crime soaring, house prices falling etc, yes ok you get that everywhere but not as bad as here in Glasgow - oh and add to that the miserable weather which is supposed to be our summer!!!
Bet you all liked to hear that while your sunning yourselves in sunny Oz, lucky things.
    take care, Jen.
