Hi everyone, after a 2 years struggle we are finally on our way to brisbane mid september. We have been several times during this period to looka round and have decided on Narangba to start with. How do most people do the move ?? do you pre book rentals from UK and arrive straight into them or stay in hotel/motel for a couple of weeks and sort rental out when you arrive ??.
If the hotel option is best then does anyone know of a good reasonable place to book for a start ?

 

Hiya welcome to brits in brissy. Most people book a hotel/motel or furnished accommodation for there first 2 or 3 weeks,this gives you time to recover from the flight,check out areas,search and inspect prospective rental properties and register your family with the relevant authorities. It is difficult to secure a 6mth rental from the uk as each property has to be inspected internally and an application submitted. You also have to be very vareful as the photos on-line can be very decieving and there are some dumps out there!
Id do a search for holiday accommodation,it may be easier to find something short term on the coast,its still only a few mins drive ,good luck with everything

When we came over in April we stayed near you guys in the Oxley motor inn for a couple nights to have a look around the south west/east suburbs , and it looks like we might base overselves there for a short time again when we finally all fly back to enable us to sort out a rental .
How have you found life in Sinnamon Park ?? as thats an area we were originally looking at ?

Sinnamon park is great! Re when you get here, PM Cal. She has accomodation and is only 20 mins or so from me!!!!!!!! You never know....................

 

No tardis here or at Jo;s ,lol,just a mitsubushi lancer and via the centenary higway, 24mins to be exact im just outside Jimboomba so knocks a few mins off straight away

Cal, you`re right there! I use the Centenary Highway all the time. My house is about 100 yards from it!!!

Narangba is an excellent choice it really is an up and coming area yet so far has managed to keep its rural charm Im sure you will settle in great there!

Most people do book accomodation for a few weeks so that they can have a look round - luckily my friend was already over here so I moved straight in to a 6 month rental. It depends on what you are comfortable doing - I knew I could trust my friends opinion and the house is lovely - perfect!

How many of you are there coming over?

There are plenty of rentals in Narangba and so reasonably priced - let me know if you need any help and good luck!!

Im bringing over the whole gang , well should i say they wont let me leave without them ! ha ha
Theres me (lee) my wife (lisa) and the two kids , emilly (10) and Lucy (7)
I think we may stay in oxley to start off . I know its a good drive from Narangba but i know the routes with no problems and the place we stayed last time had nice friendly staff. We found that the journey thru the city was nice and it opened up areas / shops that we would have never seen .

That way hopefully we will be able to sort bits out in the city on route and also be able to see a bigger selection of vehicle/ furniture outlets as well . Hopefully it will only be for 2 weeks max anyway till we can move into rented in/around Narangba.
