Hello all:smile: I thought I would finally make a move and add my own post after reading lots of yours. We’ve been granted our skilled subclass 175 and need to activate by 12 Jan 2012 but, are really unsure to make the leap after so many hurdles that keep making our dream so far away. Me, my husband and little girl (now 6) started our application 3 years ago after visiting our distance friends at upper coomer, Gold Coast. Due to falling pregnant with twin girls (now 2) and the global recession our visa took longer than expected, which was finally granted in Feb. But, with the housing market not been so great and a lot of let downs we are now in lots of discussion whether to stay or go. We are ok to leave the house here if need be, but would prefer having no connections here at all, I know if we don’t do it now we will never do it and would always be wondering. :arghh:TIME IS DRAWING CLOSE... EEK Is there work over there in Construction with the global recession? Will he get work (as failing miserably finding anything whilst still here)? How much is rentals? Schools? Etc etc I don’t mean to sound like a whinging pom, (which most may think selfish cow) but, I so worried... My husband has just finally got a good job here after 3 years of agency work when made redundant after the recession. Should we drag 3 young children to the unknown just to fulfil our dream? And, our contacts to give us guidance, whom was the there at the beginning has returned back to the UK after marriage break down and we are failing miserably to contact them. I wish I had a crystal ball and would appreciate as much information from you lovely people to help us decide on which path to take. I hope in 3 months time I’ll be laughing my arse off thinking what was all the worrying and hair pulling about (preferably in the sunshine). By the way my husband is a Joiner by trade and had to sit his vetessa (and passed successfully) even though he has not worked on the tools for 10 years as he has been a Construction site management in the housing industry. Thanx again and hope you can help a now wilting, stressful would like to say young (36) housewife. Clare Xxx:wink:
Hi Clare I am sorry, but I don't know much about the construction industry. However, rather than waster your visas, is it possible to come over and activate them by your deadline? That way you will have a few more years to decided what you would like to do in the future. Love Rudi x
Hi Clare, Just thought I would say hi We started our visa back in sept 2008 and it was finalised may 2011! We to have had lots of hurdles the past 3 months have been hell and we are still up in the air with some things We have to be out by April 2012 that wasn't an issue a few months ago flights were booked for 31/10/11 but that's all changed now and like you we have had some second thoughts about where to go ( we were going to Perth ) or even to go at all :/ Very confusing time. Good luck and keep us updated Regards Anouska
