    Hello

    Hope that you can help??
In short we were all booked to move out 31/10/11 but our beautiful dog that was all booked and coming, was diagnosed with lymphoma she's only 4yrs :( she was given 8 weeks to live.
We put everything on hold as we would never make the move until she was at peace.
During this time two close family members have also been very unwell .
We had sold( under offer ) our house, but informed the buyers of our situation and took the house of the market.

And here we are now..... Mabel (our dog) still with us 16.5 weeks on!!! And our validation date for our visas is looming :\
We have decided to have a trip over last week of March to mid April and need some help/advice we are planning to stay anywhere between the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Places to stay ( that don't break the bank)?
    Places to see/go?
    Car hire?
Our Children are 13 and 11
    Weather ?

If anyone can help we would be so grateful :)

Sorry to hear your going through a rough time at the moment, fingers crossed things get easier soon..

What about Brisbane Holiday Village as a base for your holiday, its ideal for access to the highways for either Gold or Sunshine Coast's. They have neat little cabins and there is also a pool etc on the site so should keep the kids happy. Im not sure if its a heated one or not and it will be cooling down towards the end of March but im sure my kids were still swimming around that time last year. You will only need shorts and tees as its quite warm during the day ,maybe a rain coat and umberella too just incase, lol

    Have a good time

    Hi Anouska and Steve

I would say that a BIG BIG hit with your kids would be the theme parks!!! My girls are 15, 12 and 9 and absolutely LOVE them! Dreamworld and White water world are together and then your have Movie World, Wet and Wild and Sea World all affilliated. If you are only going to go for one lot of tickets, I'd go for the Movie world / wet and wild and Seaworld ones.

    Love

    Thank you SophieNigel and Rudi

    Sounds good :)

We have not chosen a good time for our trip, as its the Easter holidays everywhere will be busy and more expensive :(

but it will give us three weeks and we will only be taking our children out of school for a week.

I've looked at the Brisbane holiday village it's pretty full would have to swap cabins a few times as none available for the entire time :(

    Will keep looking thanks again

Anouska, we did a trip in Oct ahead of moving next march. Stayed for a couple of days in the Tropicana apartments in Mooloolaba/Alexandra Heads - really good and try and negotiate as it should be quiet then. We then hire a camper van and camped up the coast - Hervey Bay , Noosa to Brisbane - we found it the best way to see the place as we could go where we wanted and the camp sites are fantastic. Two kids 6 and 13 and they loved it as most sites are by the sea. Enjoy.

    Hi tcj,

How fab what company did you use ?
    Was it expensive ?

Did you need to book sites in advance or just turn up?

It is the Easter holidays then so everywhere does seem busy and the rates are peak season :(

    Thanks again

No joke, but the company is called Awesome Camper Vans and they were! Website is - http://www.awesomecampers.com.au/campervans.html - size and prices to suit. We were off peak so I suspect prices can't be compared. We picked it up from Brisbane airport - they even gave us a lift back when we dropped it off which was really helpful.

In terms of the sites we were able to turn up but it may be different at Easter and especially the popular ones - many are council owned and the facilities are exemplary. Anymore just shout, tcj

If Brisbane Holiday Village is busy try Ashmore Palms,, more Gold Coast than central but still a nice place...

Mooloolaba, the apartment looks great for what we need.

It was hard to get what we wanted where we wanted!!

Really looking forward to our trip :)
I see you like horses, my daughter is mad on them is there any good riding schools around?

    Regards

Mooloolaba is lovely, you should really enjoy it, its gorgeous up there. There willl be a few Horse Trecking places up there too, lol.
There are riding schools in most areas but they are a bit different to the UK and not as popular as lots more people here own their own, hence Pony Clubs are very popular.

O gosh I won't tell my daughter that most own their own pony/horse !!!!

Hopefully being an hour + away from brisbane/gold coast won't be too much of a problem. ( we plan to be more up sunny coast when we move )

    Thanks again cal :)
