Hello, Everyone! I have already posted on the jobs forum but thought I would introduce myself as I am sure to be popping on here quite frequently. I'm Tracey,42, nurse. OH, Rog, 40, in marketing. Son, Daniel,8, chief mischief maker. We're planning to get to Brisbane about April/May 09 and hopefully getting to know some of you along the way will make the transition that little bit easier!

    Hi Tracey,
Hello and welcome to BIB. I haven't been on much lately as i am busy getting ready to go away on the 17th april. We have a son (Ryan) who is nearly 11 and is really excited about going. How is your son reacting to ythe move?
I am sure you will get to know a lot of people on here as they are all very friendly.

Thanks, Karen. You lucky thing, going on the 17th! Daniel isn't so excited at the moment, unfortunately, he's worried about leaving his friends. We're going on a reccie in Dec so hopefully he'll come round then, not that it'll stop us going,(but we don't tell him that!)
I'm getting good vibes already from the posts I've read and it'll be good getting to know some people before we get there, cos we don't know a soul!
Good luck for your journey, let us know how you get on, especially with Ryan starting a new school. It might make Dan a bit more positive:biggrin:

    Hiya

Just wanted to say Welcome to the site, I have a 12 year old son who has very mixed feelings about moving to OZ. He does want to go but not to leave friends and family behind etc etc.

But I'm sure when we get there he'll make loads of new mates and he will still keep in touch with the people in the UK.

Have a great Hoilday in December! We'll be there by then..............lol

  8. Hi Karen,
Ive just come onto this site today and seen you so i thought i'd say Hello, my husband and I are from Fife too, Dunfermline. We've been looking at moving to Melbourne for the last 6 months as i have family there- but my husbands company have offered him a job in Brisbane!!! I have no idea about Brisbane as i've been researching Melbourne. I was hoping afellow scot could help us get an idea of what life is like there. Im an Australian citizen (born there came to Scotland as a baby) so we dont have too many problems with visa's . I have two kids Elle 5 and Euan 10 who are desperate to come over, i hope it lives up to our dreams.
Im really excited but terrified too!!!
Any advice on areas to live, work and what's the people like? Everyone was really friendly in Melbourne, i was over last year visiting family but Brisbane is along way away!!!

    Any regrets leaving Scotland???
Look forward to speaking to you Jodie :)
